Lines, Angles, Color and Texture

This week for my photography challenge over at Scrapbook.com we were challenged to use these elements in our photographs.

Of course I can't do a photo post without a picture of my little boy. =) I liked how his bright orange shirt popped against the green and brown in the background. (SS 1/250 sec., f-stop 5.6, ISO 400, 28-135 mm lens at 90 mm)

For angles (and some texture) I took this picture of some shrubs my husband just planted. I was playing around with my 50 mm lens and wanted to get a good depth of field. (SS 1/4000 sec., f-stop 1.8, ISO 400, 50mm lens, Aperture Priority setting)

I thought this picture was pretty cool for lines and texture. You can see on the right that our grass has turned a lovely brown shade. =) That's what happens when you don't get any rain for a month. (SS 1/500 sec., f-stop 4, ISO 400, 50mm lens)

Edited: Per Cherie's suggestion, I've cropped the last picture down to show just the drain cover. I also converted it to black and white but I don't think it's too obvious. =) Thanks for the suggestion, Cherie!

nice shots and great job on thie weeks challenge. just a suggestion on the last one i think it would look nicer if it was just the lines with no grass in the photo.

Great shots. I agree that the grass is a bit of a distraction in the last one. I thnk the first one is a great shot of the grate. I like the one of your DS too!

I think you're getting it, my dear!! (Proud "mommy" moment... hehe). I hope you don't take that the wrong way... it just seems that you're really getting this and that your camera's not overwhelming you as much. Yay!! LOVE that shrub one with the DOF both in front and in back... very cool. My only CC (and it's small), is that for the still-life shots (all but Dylan), judging by your SS, you probably could have dropped your ISO to at least 200, if not 100.

Love these, Jenney... I can't wait to see more!

these are really nice shots. I especially like the one of your little boy because of how vivid the colors are. his shirt color really does pop against the green.
I like the last one cropped also.

My favorite is those tinsy shrubs. LOVE the focus and the line of the brick wall. Way to go.
